WHY ECONOMIC FACTORS IN WOMEN AND HEALTH?

Why is WHTF focusing on economic aspects of women in health for a major seminar series this year? Because we have always been committed to equity in all aspects of health and believe that healthy women contribute to healthy communities. A recent World Economic Forum report (2024) documented that women spend 25% more time in “poor” health than men. It predicted that investments addressing the women’s health gap could add years to life and life to years, and potentially boost the global economy by more than $1 trillion annually by 2040. The root causes of this health gap for women are: lack of scientific inquiry specific to women; data collection that systematically under-reports significant women’s health issues; healthcare delivery and access problems; and, low investment in women’s health conditions despite their prevalence.

WHTF has committed to exploring these issues and identifying ways to address them in this webinar series, we look forward to you joining us!
